Rostom is a surname that holds sentimental value to the founder of the label, Fifi Rostom. It is a name that spans back two generations to yet another Fifi Rostom. That being a much talented seamstress and Fifi’s first inspiration, her grandmother.

Fifi discovered her passion for dress making during textiles class in her early high school years. It was during this time that Fifi’s mother, in a bid to support her daughter’s passion, purchased her first sewing machine.

Although she possessed an undeniable eye for fashion and talent as a seamstress early on, Fifi’s path led her away from her sewing machine as she pursued a 17-year career in the corporate world.

It was during the toughest years faced globally during the pandemic that Fifi delved deep into her soul and decided to dust off her sewing machine and pursue her true calling in fashion.

Fifi took it upon herself to learn the craft through endless amounts of online videos and books plus countless hours of hands-on trial and error developing her own dresses.

For two years she lived and breathed the craft with a relentless will to make up for lost time, finally arriving at a point where she could confidently call herself a self-taught seamstress and honour her grandmother.
